Hi! I am April Merrill, owner of Nestled Nook Interior Design and Space Planning, LLC. I strive to help my clients create a home with function while feeling warm and welcoming. Through the years that I have been practicing as an Interior Designer, I have found that many who come to me have a great sense of style but can't find the time to shop or the thought of designing a room is very overwhelming. I graduated from the University of Idaho in 2013 with a bachelors in Interior Design. Since then I have been working with people who want help designing the dream home they envision into a reality.
I believe each life experience that I have had has helped me to become a better designer for you. After graduating I moved with my husband to Ramstein, Germany. We were lucky enough to live overseas for 4 years. We were able to travel all over Europe. We visited Venice, Paris, Prague, Vienna, London, Ireland, Scotland, and a little town in Scandinavia and many more! While we lived overseas I was able to observe so many different designs and functions. Once we moved back home and began settling into our next home I had the challenge of designing with the idea of what my 7-month-old could reach and couldn't reach. Child proofing! Suddenly my version of a magazine perfect home was out the door. I learned that I could still have a home that was looked nice but now I learned how to add function in my style. I realized that designating space for organization and areas to place toys and children books allowed my home to feel still once it once was (if not more), put together. Along with my own life experience, my career working with a wide range of styles and needs of each client has modified how I go into a room design. Working on remodels and pick materials out for clients can be challenging. Sometimes I would get it right the first time and others the 5th time. Learning to listen to what the client is really saying can be challenging.
I love what I do and I love my home! When it comes down to why I do what I do it all comes down to my belief that the home should be yours and your families safe place. The last thing you should feel when you walk into your home is to feel stressed out. I want to help anyone who wants help designing a home that they can feel relaxed and organized, not overwhelmed by how mismatched and unorganized home life feels.
I love creating Edesigns because they are so easy and arguably fun to do and the added bonus so affordable! I love that my clients have a sense of pride when they complete one of my room designs because although I provide you all the right tool you are the one to ultimately put the room together.
